Simulations
Orchestral Simulations
Can be used as a sophisticated accompaniment on singers’ and instrumentalists’ CDs, or to add a touch of class and richness to band tracks. Can also be used as backing tracks for live performance. Check out the example tracks at the bottom of this page.
Orchestral Simulations by The Dream Factory offer a VERY high degree of realism, and make very expressive, and full-bodied accompaniments. Each instrument of the score is played on a separate track and controlled by our own especially developed control system. Each instrument has its own subtle detail of attack, phrasing and expression, programmed by people with years of orchestral playing & conducting experience.
The sounds are NOT synth sounds, but highest quality full length non-looped samples streamed from computer hard drive. These orchestral sounds are full of life and do not exhibit the unnatural pulsing or deadness of most keyboard orchestral sounds.
Unlike commercial CD backings which are "take-it-or leave-it" concerning tempo and style, our orchestral tracks are tailored exactly to your own personal pacing and interpretation of the music.
We also use special techniques to prevent the timing from sounding mechanical, and the pacing of ralls, rubato and pauses is controlled with the utmost finesse. This is why our Orchestral Simulations sound so much better than anything else you are likely to hear.
If you can afford to hire a 70-piece symphony orchestra at about €8,000 a session, plus the cost of a large studio, a producer and an engineer, then do so (we haven't improved on that yet!). If not, then a Dream Factory Orchestral Simulation may be what you need.
There is the added advantage that an Orchestral Simulation stays flexible if the arrangement needs to be altered, right up to the final mastering process (a flexibility you don't have once a real orchestra has been recorded!).
Singers can record whilst listening on headphones to a pre-existing Orchestral Simulation pre-tailored to their requirements, or if they have already recorded tracks with The Dream Factory using our special method of recording piano accompaniments, the piano can be replaced later by a Simulation (see Bach and Puccini below).
Choirs and Bands can have Orchestral Simulations ADDED to their previously recorded tracks (see example tracks below).
Track List
Band tracks with added Dream Factory orchestra
Kila: Glanfaidh Mé (7049k) (extract)(5'01) - from the album "Luna Park"
The award winning Irish band asked us to produce a special orchestral arrangement for one of the tracks on their latest album. This is an excerpt from our own egocentric re-mix with the orchestra wick turned up high.
Orchestral arrangement, sounds and production by The Dream Factory.
Location recordings with Dream Factory orchestra added later
La Marseillaise (2259k) (1’38) from the album "XV on Song"
Dublin Welsh Male Voice Choir - conductor: Keith Young
Recorded in the Hall of the Royal Hospital, Donnybrook, without any accompaniment.
The Dream Factory arrangement
for brass and percussion was added later.
Haydn: Kyrie (1437k) (1'01) - from the Kleine Orgelmesse
Mullingar Cathedral Choir: from the album A Feast of Church Music
Recorded in Mullingar Cathedral with organ accompaniment.
The strings, which add so much to the track, were created later
at The Dream Factory.
Studio recordings with piano converted to Simulation
Bach: “Bereite Dich Zion” (8601k) (6'05)
Edel O’Brien: Mezzo Soprano
Recorded with live MIDI piano. We tidied up the piano performance, filled in some harmony and converted it to an organ sound. Sounds as if it were recorded in a church, not in a domestic living room.
(See Singers page for details).
Puccini: “Quando me’n Vo” from La Bohème (3566k) (2’32)
Sandra Oman: Soprano
The MIDI piano accompaniment recorded with the voice was converted to a Dream Factory Orchestral Simulation
